Vintage Quicksand "Manic Compression" Island Promotional Poster

Quicksand is a band from New York City. They're called a post-hardcore band but that's probably more to do with the fact that they're Walter Schreifels's first band after the seminal hardcore band Gorilla Biscuits. They're more like a groovy, dissonant, weirdo hardcore band with some aspects of metal thrown in and melodic vocals. I don't know what that makes them. The band formed in 1990, with Schreifels teaming up with Sergio Vega from Collapse, Tom Capone from Beyond and Bold, and Alan Cage from Beyond and Burn. It was a somewhat odd NYHC super group that worked out great. They released a 7" on Revelation Records in 1990 and followed it up with two LPs, 1993's Slip and 1995's Manic Compression, on major label Island. The band broke up after Manic but have since gotten back together twice, once for a short stint in 1998 and once more for good starting in 2012. The band is still active to this day, regularly touring and even releasing new albums. This original Quicksand Manic Compression promotional poster, was originally sent to record stores to advertise the band's album.
